IYR Krishna Rao
Mr. IYR Krishna Rao is an IAS Officer of the 1979 Batch and a man endowed with humanism and concern for the less privileged. During his career he worked for transparency in administration, simplification of procedures and a concern for the less endowed. He worked as Collector, Khammam, Nalgonda Districts and was in the Finance Department for a period of 5 years in different capacities and 2 years as Executive Officer, TTD, as CCLA for a period of 1 year and finally retired as the Chief Secretary of the State of Andhra Pradesh. He did pioneering work in the TTD where he is still remembered and as CCLA made protection of Government lands as his first mission. As the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh State after bifurcation, he played a crucial rule in shaping the destiny of the new state and resolving the issues of bifurcation between both the States. Post-retirement he worked as Chairman, AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation for a period of 1 year 4 months, where he gave a new dimension to the Welfare Administration by using IT Platform to reach out to the eligible beneficiaries beyond political considerations. He promoted subsidiary Institutions to the Brahmin Welfare Corporation to work on commercial lines and generate surpluses to finance the welfare programmes so that the dependence on Government Grants gradually gets reduced. Presently, he is associated with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Hyderabad Kendra as its Chairman and also with the Durgabhai Deshmukh - Andhra Mahila Sabha and is involved in the socially relevant activities.
